Ondřej Sekora (1899-1967) is an important Czech writer and illustrator of children books, in the same time he left a well-marked footprint in the history of Czech journalism, sport, theatre, AV media or comics. The life and artistic career of the author reflects in several respects perfectly historical and political turns this country went through from the end of WWI to the early 1960s, and so his story sums up in short the complicated history of Czechoslovakia in the given period.

The extensive exhibition the Moravian Museum has prepared on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of Sekora's birth reflects all his main genres and shows the variety of his creation. The core of the presentation uses the rich museum holdings complemented with loans from several other museum institutions. The exhibition shows original illustrations from Sekora's famous and less known books, newspaper drawings and caricatures, his private painter's creation, scenographic projects as well as puppets designed by Sekora. An extensive monograph containing rich pictorial material will be published to accompany the exhibition; many originals and artefacts, still unknown to the large public, will be reproduced.
