Brno Museum Night 2018

Date: Saturday, 19th May 2018, 18:00 - 24:00

One-time payment of 20 CZK applies to the entry to all Brno premises of the Moravian Museum during the Museum Night (except for the Palace of Noble Ladies). Advance sale of tickets from 1 May 2018 at all ticket offices of the Moravian Museum (free admission for children up to 130 cm). All permanent and temporary exhibitions and museum shops are open during the event. Admission: 20 CZK. Last entry at 23.30.

Unique possibility to see items used by Karel Absolon for his work. All of them are presented for the first time to the public.

Vlasta Fialová (1928-1998)
Exhibition on a legendary Brno actress, one of the greatest talents of her generation.

Illiterate Analphabet and other literary heroes
The exhibition presents, original works of both Czech and foreign literature intended for children and youth, from past centuries to the present.

Praise of Collecting: 200 years at the service of Moravian culture and science
The exhibition deals with the phenomenon of collecting hat led, historically, first to the inception of cabinets of curiosities of products of nature and later to the creation of museums, such as the Francis´ Museum.

Fight of Ichthyosaurs or Prehistoric times by Zdeněk Burian´s brush
Famous paintings accompany original fossils which Burian used as models, some paintings are impressively animated.

Welcome to the Neanderthals
The exhibition presents Neanderthals in a new light. Many items and anthropological finds are displayed for the very first time.

Accompanying programme:

  • 18.00 - 22.00 narrator of fairy tales, myths and stories Tomáš Machek accompanied with natural and prehistoric sounds and music
  • 18:00 - 22:30 shamanic drums, costumes and masks in the permanent exhibition

Programme in front of the Anthropos Pavilion:

  • 18:00 - 22:00 Make your mask – interactive workshop (not only) for small visitors. Artist Lenka Crhová will teach how to make masks
  • 18:00 - 23:30 Music performance – DJ Liguid A
  • 18:00 - 23:30 Tearoom in yurt – tea specialities and traditional water pipes
  • 20:30 Zdeněk Wilimek band – digeridoo and sounds of the  primitive society

Accompanying programme:

  • 18.00 - 23.30 Music and art workshop on speech melodies
  • 20:00 Duo Nana Diversi canti. Duo guitar: Irena Sedláčková and soprano: Helena Hozová, performing mostly contemporary classical music, will present a selection of compositions by Brno composers: Leoš Janáček, Jan Novák, Jarmila Mazourová, and Miloš Štědroň
  • 22:00 art group Skupina – Field recordings. The art group Skupina, dealing beside other with field recording, will present their  reinterpretation of Janáček´s speech melodies
