Folia ethnographica - Supplementum ad Acta Musei Moraviae

The magazine Folia ethnographica is an independent series of Acta Musei Moraviae since 1986. It follows up with Acta Musei Moraviae - Scienciae sociales, series Ethnographica (1974-1985), the editor of which was the founder of the Ethnographic Institute at the Moravian Museum Doc. Dr. Ludvík Kunz, CSc.

Folia ethnographica publishes original papers from the field of ethnology bringing new knowledge from the research work. The magazine focuses on traditional culture in Czech lands, especially in Moravia. Individual topics are dealt with in the historical context as well as in current conditions, in inter-ethnical and Central European cultural connections. The articles are reviewed by external specialists.

The magazine is part of the international exchange programme of scientific literature and has been sent to 50 ethnology institutions throughout Europe.

Instructions for authors:

Folia ethnographica publishes original papers from the field of ethnology. The articles are reviewed by external consultants.

Manuscripts and correspondence should be addressed to the editor: Eva Večerková, Etnografický ústav, Moravské zemské muzeum, Zelný trh 6, 659 37 Brno, e-mail: evecerkova@mzm.cz

Manuscripts will be accepted in Czech, Slovak, English, German and French, in electronic form in Windows format MS Word, on CD or by mail in 2 printed copies. The articles should be printed or typed double-spaced, type size 12, on one side of paper with pagination. The deadline for manuscripts is April 30th of each year. Each article must be accompanied by an abstract (extend according to that of the article), key words and summary (extend according to that of the article). The abstract and key words can be submitted in Czech (the editor cares for translation) or directly in English, the summary in Czech or directly in German, English or French.

References to the literature should be cited as follows:
(Zeman 1998, 25), as noted by Zeman and Dvořák (1999, 210; - if there two authors).

Footnotes will be mentioned after the text and numbered with superscript.

As for illustrations, only originals (black and white or colour photographs, pen-and-ink drawings) or digitised copies of high quality will be accepted. The number of illustrations must correspond with the extend of the text. Figure legends will be mentioned separately below the text of the article, in Czech or German/English (according to the language of the summary). Colour illustrations can be printed by prior agreement with the editor and with financial support by the author.

If the aticle is an output of a grant project, its title and the grant number will follow the text.

The final version of the reviewed manuscript should be supplied to the editor in electronic form (CD, diskette in format MS Word).


The editorial board decides the publication of the article on the basis of the reviews.

The author publishing in Folia ethnographica tranfers his copyright on the article to the publisher. The authors receive 25 copies of reprints of their article and 1 copy of the whole magazine. A greater number of reprints is available on special arrangement with the editor.
